Born in Singapore and raised in Hawaii, Melissa Woods has been drawing and painting for most of her life. She is interested in texture, ambiguity, theatricality and phantasmagoria, eroticism, organic forms and the intersection of the sensuous, the intriguing, and the grotesque. Film stills are a strong influence, inspiring images that imply motion, expectation, tension or aftermath.
